Kyle Chan is a sixth-year PhD candidate in the Sociology Department. His research focuses on the role of government in building infrastructure and supporting economic development in developing countries. He recently finished two years of fieldwork in China and India for his dissertation comparing railway development between these two countries. Originally from Los Angeles, Kyle earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Chicago and his master’s degree in political sociology from the London School of Economics. Kyle loves homemade mutton biryani, playing Frisbee, listening to podcasts while cooking, and learning about everyday life in parts of the world far from Princeton.
